The 2008 Saint Francis
de Sales Seminary Pallium Golf Outing
was
a huge success on a gorgeous July afternoon
at Tripoli Country Club in Mequon. 80 golfers
and 189 dinner guests participated this year,
making it the best-attended in the event’s
five-year history.
The winning foursome included
Golf Outing founder Dr. Jack Frederick, who was
joined by Rick Schuster, David Obernberger and
Kate Maikowski.
Several
years ago, Dr. Jack and his wife Margaret accompanied
Archbishop Timothy Dolan on a pilgrimage to
Rome. They came back inspired to help
raise critical funds for seminarian formation,
and the Seminary Golf Outing was born.
Co-chairs Mike and Fifi
Stevens led committee efforts for the second year
in a row. They commissioned Fr. Paul Hartmann
as auctioneer, who kept guests laughing hard
and bidding often. At the end of the day, nearly
$40,000 had been raised to help defray
the education costs for seminarians who will
one day serve as priests for the Archdiocese
of Milwaukee.
The Seminary would like
to thank everyone who participated, sponsored a
tee, donated items for the auction, and volunteered
their valuable time to make this year’s
golf outing the best yet.
Mark your calendars now: Next year’s
Saint Francis de Sales Seminary Golf Outing will
be Monday, July 27, 2009 at Tripoli
Country Club.
