Estate-related Giving
Saint Francis Seminary gratefully receives testamentary gifts in a variety of ways.
The traditional way to remember the Seminary is through inclusion in a Will or Trust. However, many of our benefactors prefer to name the Seminary as the beneficiary of an insurance policy or through a Planned Gift.
Planned Gifts: The term refers to a variety of ways to benefit the Seminary by making a gift that allows the donor or a person designated by the donor to retain a guaranteed life income from the gift that will come to the Seminary for its use only after the lifetime of the income beneficiary. Some examples are Gift annuities and Charitable Trusts.
When appreciated securities are the giving vehicles for a Planned Gift, capital gains tax can be reduced or avoided, depending on the approach chosen by the donor. In all cases, the donor receives an income tax deduction now and may also find that the income received from the gift is increased from what was formerly earned.
The choice is up to you.
